The South American football federation Conmebol has also previously supported giving Infantino a mandate for another four years.

CAF and AFC account for 101 of the 211 votes in the election, and Conmebol for another ten votes.

Infantino has led FIFA since 2016, when he was elected to a three-year term following the corruption scandals surrounding former president Sepp Blatter.

The FIFA president can serve a maximum of three full terms of four years, which means that Infantino will remain in office until 2031 at the latest if re-elected.

The 56-year-old has been criticized, especially in parts of Europe - including when FIFA introduced its own peace prize, which was awarded to US President Donald Trump.
