A 45-year-old man is suspected of stealing electricity from his neighbors in Östermalm in Stockholm, police say.

The suspected theft was not difficult to detect.

Several electrical cables, routed to different outlets around an apartment building in the exclusive Lärkstaden area, led to the same door.

A police patrol conducted a search of a house on Wednesday evening and seized a number of electrical cables. The man is suspected of the crime of illegal energy diversion from his housing association.

As I understand it, he doesn't pay his electricity bills so he supplies himself with electricity this way instead, says police spokesperson Daniel Wikdahl.
