Ahead of the Center Party's convention in Karlstad, the party board announced that it wants to individualize parental insurance so that it is shared equally between parents. An issue that is being pushed by, among others, Center Women and the Youth Association.
But before the vote at the meeting, the party board changed its mind and instead advocated a three-part parental insurance, where each parent takes one third and one third can be transferred.
It is also a proposal that new C leader Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist advocates.
It suits rainbow families but also business owners who find it difficult to be away for so long, she says.
Today, parental leave can be divided between parents in any way they choose by transferring days between them, but there are three earmarked months that cannot be transferred.
