Traffic will be expanded by approximately 24,000 extra departures this autumn, with an emphasis on bus traffic in the inner city, Tyresö and the north.

In July this year, the government lowered the ticket price for the monthly pass. Several regions have seen a sharp increase in the number of monthly passes sold after the price cut.

"The government's initiative is temporary and must not be used to increase the number of departures - but we in the Stockholm Region have allocated 100 million kronor to reduce congestion," said Jakop Dalunde (MP), regional transport councillor, in a press release.

Opposition regional councillor Axel Conradi (M) calls the announcement a "thumbs-up" and points out that the Center coalition has implemented cuts in public transport during its term.
