Italian basketball is shaken by a tragedy. After a match in the second league, a player bus was attacked with stones from the opposing team's fans and a bus driver was killed, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

”Terrible news. An unacceptable and insane act of violence. I trust that those responsible for this cowardly and criminal act will soon be identified and brought to justice", writes Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on X.

After Estra Pistoia defeated RSR Sebastiani Rieti with 88–73 away, the evening completely deteriorated.

When Pistoia's player bus was to leave the arena's parking lot, it was subjected to a violent attack by the opponents' supporters.

Several people threw stones and heavy objects at the bus. One of the stones smashed the windshield and hit the driver, who despite immediate rescue attempts died on the spot.

Both Estra Pistoia and RSR Sebastiani Rieti have strongly condemned the attack.
