A bus and a car started burning after colliding on Värmdö outside Stockholm. The bus is gas-powered and completely burned out. Two people, one in the car and one in the bus, are involved in the accident.

What has caused the fire is too early to say, says Anders Bryngelsson, press spokesperson at the Stockholm police.

The police state that two people are involved in the accident that occurred at 09.30 on Thursday. The extent of their injuries is unclear. However, no passengers were on the bus, according to the bus company Nobina.

It was an empty drive, says press chief David Erixon.

Road closed

Police, ambulance, and rescue services were also alerted to the scene with several resources. The accident occurred on Farstabron and the road is closed in both directions, according to the Swedish Transport Administration.

Various investigative measures are underway. We are classifying it as reckless driving, says Daniel Wikdahl, press spokesperson for the Stockholm police.

Region Stockholm has gone into emergency mode after the accident, reports SVT News Stockholm.

This means that we are gathering healthcare resources centrally and preparing emergency hospitals. But at present, we have no information about the extent of the injuries, says Josefine Bergenholtz-Gröndahl at Region Stockholm to the TV channel.

Several helped out

Sebastian witnessed the incident and tells Aftonbladet about the intense fire and how many people tried to help put it out.

I do not know if it was an electric car, but it started to spark when they tried to put out the fire, he says.

I really hope no one was left in the vehicle when I got there, considering how much it was burning. It was very terrible, he continues.

Värmdö municipality has activated crisis support and is opening Gustavsberg church and a parish home for socializing and support. The preliminary prognosis for when the work is completed at the accident site is set to 7 pm this evening.
