"At first, all thoughts were about the Olympics, I've had such a good pre-season and I've been so charged up. So I think it will be a bit disappointing when you sit at home and watch the Olympics on TV in February," says Burmansson in a press release from the Swedish Ski Association.
It was during a training session in Austria that Burmansson crashed. He was taken to hospital in Innsbruck and was diagnosed with cruciate ligament and meniscus injuries. The 21-year-old has now undergone surgery in Sweden.
"I came in a little short of what I had planned and landed with quite a bit of power and rotation left in my body, so then my right knee hurt. I immediately felt as I slid down the landing that this was the season."
Burmansson competes in big air and slopestyle. The Olympics in Italy will be held February 6–22.
