After the chaos, wild joy followed. The reason? Substitute Emiliano Buendía scored Aston Villa's winning goal in the summit clash at home to Arsenal, 2-1.

The home team got hold of the ball and made a final push to close the gap to top-placed Arsenal in the Premier League table.

Several chances were blocked by covering defenders – but then the ball ended up in front of substitute Emiliano Buendía.

The Argentine took the lead immediately and scored the 2-1 goal in the 95th minute.

It was incredible. This team has shown character in recent weeks, fighting and coming back in the games. Now we did it again. We fought until the last second. An incredible victory, says Buendía in the Prime Video broadcast.

The goal meant Aston Villa won 2-1 and closed the gap on Arsenal to just three points after 15 games.

We trust the process, we believe in what we are doing and what we can do in this league. We show in every game that we are making steps forward. We just have to continue this work.

Arsenal's Viktor Gyökeres started on the bench and was substituted immediately after half-time. Aston Villa's Victor Nilsson Lindelöf was substituted in the 86th minute.
