With over two months left until the season premiere, Brynäs has suffered a heavy player loss.

Team captain Maja Nylén Persson is leaving the club – to play in North America and PWHL, the ambitious professional league for women that started in 2023.

The 23-year-old has signed a three-year contract with New York.

"I'm super excited to be part of this organization and to be able to join their journey going forward. I'm looking forward to meeting all the amazing fans and playing for the city of New York", says Nylén Persson to PWHL's website.

The Swede has been a mainstay in the Damkronorna for a longer period, and already has over 100 national team games.

Thus, she becomes the second Swede in New York's newly started team. Johanna Fällman has also been playing for the club previously.
