Bruce Springsteen was one of the guest artists at a solidarity concert in Minneapolis on Friday, the Minnesota newspaper Star Tribune reported.

The rock legend played, among other things, the brand-new song "Streets of Minneapolis," dedicated to the city's residents and written in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good, who were shot dead by federal police in recent weeks.

Proceeds from the benefit concert - which was organized by Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello - will go to the families of Good and Pretti.

Springsteen wrote "Streets of Minneapolis" last Saturday, recorded it on Tuesday and released it on Wednesday - in response to what he calls the "state terror being carried out" against Minneapolis.

President Donald Trump has dismissed the protest song, calling it "irrelevant."
