The American actor was found dead last weekend in South Carolina, where she had travelled with her boyfriend. His brother was nearby, and when he could not contact the sleeping couple, he went to their apartment.
When the boyfriend woke up, he found Hayden Panettiere, 36, unconscious. According to the brother, Brian Hickerson raised the alarm but also tried to give his girlfriend Narcan, a nasal spray that acts as an antidote for opioid overdose.
Police have previously said there is no suspicion that a crime was behind the death.
