The star was stopped by police near her home in Westlake Village, California, after passing cars reported a driver was driving recklessly on the highway and swerving between lanes.
Spears does not have to appear in court because the offense is considered a misdemeanor. If convicted, she could avoid punishment by agreeing to undergo treatment for alcohol problems.
The trial will be held on May 4 in Los Angeles.
