The 44-year-old pop star was not present in court, but admitted to the crime, a minor offense, through her lawyer.
She will therefore avoid prison and instead be sentenced to one year of probation and a fine. Spears will also have to take a mandatory course on drunk driving.
In early March, Spears was arrested near her home in California on suspicion of drunk driving.
The plea deal to avoid prison was possible because she had not been convicted of the crime before and no one was injured.
These types of settlements are common when the accused person has shown a willingness to seek help - which Britney Spears did when she voluntarily enrolled in a treatment program for substance abuse in April.
