"The UK is now conducting defensive air missions in support of the United Arab Emirates," Defence Secretary John Healey said in a statement.
In addition, Typhoon fighter jets have "successfully shot down two drones, one over Jordan and one that was heading towards Bahrain," Healey said.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer initially refused to allow the US to use British bases in connection with the strikes on Iran. After receiving harsh criticism from US President Donald Trump, Starmer gave the US permission to use British bases during Washington's military operation against Iran for "defensive purposes".
