Former heavyweight boxer Joe Bugner has passed away.

The British profile had a few big matches in the 1970s when he met Muhammad Ali twice, one of the times in a match for the World Championship title, and Joe Frazier once.

In all these three matches Bugner went the distance, but lost on points.

Bugner was born in Hungary and came to Britain as a refugee along with his family in the late 1950s.

He won 69 of his 83 matches in a career that ended in 1999 after he made several comebacks. Joe Bugner became European Champion and won the British Commonwealth Games.

Joe Bugner died in his home in Brisbane, Australia, and became 75 years old.
