During the frontal crash tests, the buckle on the child car seat’s belt released completely, and the crash dummy was thrown out of the seat.

The problem occurred when the car seat was in the rear-facing position. When tested in the upright position, or when installed using the car’s belt instead of the base, the belt did not come loose.

Råd&Rön recommends not using the Britax Römer Baby-Safe Pro with the Vario Base 5Z in the rear-facing position.

The manufacturer, Britax Römer, has been informed of the results and is investigating the matter. No decision has yet been made on whether the seat should be recalled or discontinued.
