The proposal for a price cap comes after a number of artists, such as Dua Lipa, Sam Fender and Coldplay, in an open letter urged Prime Minister Keir Starmer to protect fans from being forced to buy overly expensive concert tickets.
Previously, a price cap of 30 percent above the regular price has been discussed, but the government is now expected to draw the line exactly at the regular price.
However, several resale sites, such as Viagogo and Stubhub, warn that a price cap could lead to increased trading on unregulated platforms, where the risk of fraud is greater.
