British media have recently reported that Henrik Rydström has been a strong contender for the coaching job at Brighton – now it is clear that the MFF coach is not moving to England. In fact, the Premier League club has announced on its website that Fabian Hürzeler has been appointed.
The 31-year-old German, who was born in the USA, comes from St Pauli, which he led to promotion to the Bundesliga last season.
Hürzeler has signed a contract with Brighton that runs until June 2027.
"His playing style aligns with how Brighton want to play. I am absolutely certain that our supporters will appreciate him," says Brighton's club director Tony Bloom.
Hürzeler replaces Italian Roberto De Zerbi, who has coached Brighton with great success in recent seasons.
