After three consecutive years of declining numbers, 61,000 new companies were started around the country, an increase of 6 percent compared with 2024, according to figures from the Swedish Companies Registration Office compiled by Spiris.
The number of new companies was also the second lowest since 2013.
"Even if the development is going in the right direction, it is too early to breathe a sigh of relief. Many entrepreneurs are still affected by uncertainty in the world around them, high costs and complicated regulations," says Boo Gunnarson, business expert at Spiris, in a press release.
Corrected: In an earlier version of the text there was an incorrect comparison with 2013.
