Brazil faces Morocco in the World Cup opener on June 14, local time in Sweden.
But now Brazil's national team doctor confirms that Neymar has injured his calf and needs two to three weeks of rest, according to AFP.
The striker is Brazil's all-time leading scorer and has been playing in his home country since last year. He has previously represented major clubs such as Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
Neymar has not been selected for the national team for three years due to knee problems.
