Brazil's former Defense Minister Walter Braga Netto has been arrested in connection with allegations of planning a coup.
The allegations against him concern that he allegedly hindered the collection of evidence, says the federal police in a statement.
The authorities also conducted two house searches in connection with the arrest.
Braga Netto was formally charged in November, along with former President Jair Bolsonaro and 35 others, for planning a coup to keep Bolsonaro in office after his failed re-election in 2022.
Braga Netto was Bolsonaro's chief of staff from 2020 to 2021 and Defense Minister from 2021 to 2022.
His legal representatives have previously stated that they will wait with statements until they have had time to review the police documents.
