Jorlan Lopes da Silva is suspected of 16 murders over a three-month period. The 33-year-old is said to have connections to a criminal organization from Rio de Janeiro that operates in the Brazilian state of Paraíba.
After a 48-hour search, he was arrested on Sunday in Mulungu, Paraíba, reports O Globo.
Lopes da Silva himself claims to have killed around 80 people during his life, which would make him Brazil's worst serial killer ever.
According to the police, the first murder may have been committed when he was 13. Where he got the child he was carrying at the time of his arrest is being investigated.
