Pål Jonson (M), Sweden's Minister of Defense, said this at a press conference with Brazilian Minister of Defense José Múcio, where they signed a declaration of intent.

Brazil has expressed willingness and interest in possibly purchasing an additional 20 Gripen, Jonson says.

This concerns the new Gripen E/F, which in this case will be manufactured in Brazil.

Pål Jonson did not want to mention any price tag for a possible deal.

"It is still something to be discussed. But we appreciate that Brazil has expressed a desire to buy more," he says, emphasizing that the actual deal is between Brazil and Gripen manufacturer Saab.

Brazil has previously purchased 36 Gripen aircraft from Sweden.

According to José Múcio, cooperation between Sweden and Brazil has worked well so far, which he cites as a reason for Brazil's interest in purchasing additional aircraft.

"We have overcome difficulties and now we will make this partnership even better," he says.
