It's bad enough when Brazil's football bosses lose matches. Big defeats against their worst rival Argentina are even worse, and now Dorival Júnior has to take the consequences.
The 62-year-old gets fired as Brazil's national team captain after the 1–4 defeat in the World Championship qualifier the other day.
"Dorival Júnior is no longer responsible for the Brazilian national team", writes Brazil's football association in a statement.
Argentina became the first South American team to secure their World Championship ticket already before the match against Brazil, thanks to other results going their way. They then went on to crush the Brazilians on home turf.
Brazil is currently fourth in the South American World Championship qualifier, ten points behind Argentina.
