The Brazilian government expresses "deep concern" over the EU's decision to stop imports of meat from the country.
The EU believes that Brazil has not been able to provide sufficient guarantees that the country's exports meet EU standards to prevent the misuse of antibiotics in animal husbandry, and the ban came into effect on Thursday.
In May, Brazil was placed on an EU list of countries that do not comply with regulations on antibiotic use.
