Brazil is the country that has won the World Cup the most times, but its last victory was 24 years ago. They could be favorites to repeat the success from the last time the USA hosted the World Cup in 1994 - when Brazil won.

Back on American soil, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, Brazil's opening match began with a setback. Morocco's Ismael Saibari opened the scoring in the 21st minute, chipping the ball over the goalkeeper into the net.

Morocco continued to dominate possession in the first half, but in the 32nd minute, Brazil's star Vinícius Júnior scored an equalizer.

"We started really badly," he said after the match, according to AFP.

The second half was more of a wait-and-see affair, though Brazil sharpened their play somewhat; neither team scored.

"This is the result we got. It wasn't bad, but we will continue to improve from the second game. You don't win the World Cup based on your first game," Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti said.

The opposing team's coach, Mohamed Ouahbi, said the same:

"We had hoped for more, but at least we get a point. We are happy, we are not sad today, but we would have liked to win."

In their next matches, Brazil will face Haiti and Morocco will face Scotland.
