New points for NHL's hottest Swede

Jesper Bratt's fine start to the NHL season continues. The 26-year-old is the best among the league's Swedes after two new points in New Jersey's win over Edmonton, 3–0.

Bratt was noted for an assist when teammate Stefan Noesen scored 1-0 just over five minutes into the first period.

Then the Swede himself made it 2-0 with a man advantage on the ice at the end of the second period, before Timo Meier sealed the final score at 3-0 for the away team.

Bratt is now up to 15 points in as many matches, the most of all Swedes in the North American hockey league. Next best is Toronto's William Nylander, who has made 13 points in 13 matches. The scoring league is topped by Minnesota's Kirill Kaprizov, on 21 points.

Positive news about the superstar

One who usually stays at the top is Edmonton's injured superstar Connor McDavid. Encouragingly for Edmonton, the 27-year-old may be back sooner than previously thought - faster than expected. On Monday, the forward trained on ice for the first time after the ankle injury he sustained last week.

Earlier, it was said that McDavid, who has won the NHL's scoring league five of the last eight seasons, would be out for nearly three weeks. Now it sounds more hopeful:

Maybe in a week? We'll see. He's a fighter and wants to be out on the ice. He wants to help his team win, says Edmonton's coach Kris Knoblauch to the NHL website.

Two Kempe points

Jesper Bratt was not the only Swede to score double points in tonight's NHL round. Adrian Kempe made an assist to the first goal in Los Angeles' away game against Nashville. The clock stood at 13.24 in the first period when he served teammate Anze Kopitar.

In the third period, the 28-year-old from Kramfors could then score 3-0 on his own, which became the final score.
