Rumors have long been rife about a so-called prequel with Cooper and Robbie, set before the heist comedy "Ocean's Eleven" from 2001.
Now Warner Bros. has confirmed that this will be the case.
"Before Danny Ocean set foot in Vegas, two geniuses taught him everything he knows: his parents. You'll see them at their best in our new film, when they pull off an epic stunt in 1962," Margot Robbie said during a presentation with the film company in Las Vegas on Tuesday.
In parallel, an "Ocean's Fourteen" with the "Eleven" gang, George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt, is in the works in the film series, which was originally based on the 1960 comedy "Ocean's 11".
