Alexander Isak suffered a minor injury during Sweden’s first Nations League match against Romania on September 25 and left the squad.
The striker, like fellow stars Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai, missed Sunday’s big match against Manchester City, which Liverpool lost 3-0. The trio were also left out of the squad for the Champions League match against LASK Linz.
“They are not far away, but it is difficult to say at the moment. We are taking it day by day,” Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola said of the three the day before the away match in Austria.
Things went well for Liverpool, though. Frenchman Bradley Barcola joined from Paris Saint-Germain for £123 million in the summer, but it took until the team’s seventh competitive match for him to score his first goal for the club.
Then things really opened up. After making it 2-0 in the 24th minute, two minutes after Ronald Araújo’s opening goal, Barcola also made it 3-0 a few minutes before half-time.
In the second half, Jeremie Frimpong extended the lead to 4-0 before Barcola completed his hat-trick.
Although Linz reduced the deficit three times, Liverpool won 6-3 after Lewis Koumas also scored, giving the team the maximum six points in the Champions League league phase.
