The boy, who is under 18, was arrested and detained on Monday on probable cause suspicion of murder.
The detention hearing in Uppsala District Court is expected to be held on Thursday, but a more specific time is not yet known.
Police were alerted to the shooting in the Kvarngärdet district shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday evening. A 19-year-old man was found dead at the scene.
On Wednesday, it was announced that another person had been arrested in connection with the shooting and is now suspected of aiding and abetting murder.
