The accident occurred at around 5pm on Thursday afternoon. The boy, who was riding a moped, was hit by a car and taken to hospital by ambulance.
At 8:30 p.m., police announced that the boy had been pronounced dead at the hospital.
The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, is described as being in a state of shock but physically unharmed.
The accident is being investigated as gross negligence causing death.
Both vehicles have been seized. Police are not providing any details about how the accident happened.
