The City of Gothenburg is appealing the verdict after an eight-year-old boy died in a fall accident on a school playground, reports P4 Gothenburg.
It was in March 2022 that the boy – who was a student at the school – fell down a rocky slope on the school playground and injured himself so severely that he later died.
The principal of the school was prosecuted for work environment crime through negligence leading to another's death but was recently acquitted in the district court.
Gothenburg City's operations were, however, found to have committed a work environment crime in connection with the accident and were fined 1.2 million kronor in corporate fines.
It is the part concerning Gothenburg City's responsibility that is now being appealed.
