The boy, who is under 18 years old, is suspected of attempted murder.
The shot woman is in her 25-year-old age. She is still being treated at the hospital. There are no life-threatening injuries, says Malmö police's press spokesperson Nils Norling.
The shooting took place outdoors in a villa area and the boy was arrested later in the evening. According to Norling, it is too early to comment on the background to why the woman was shot. The police do not rule out that more people were involved.
We need to gather significantly more information before we can give a clear picture of the sequence of events, says Norling.
During the night, technicians have been on site and several interviews have been conducted.
