The Nigerian boxer Cynthia Temitayo Ogunsemilore has been banned from the Olympic Games after traces of a doping-classified substance were found in a test.

This is the third case so far.

A test submitted by the boxer showed traces of the doping-classified substance furosemide, which is often used to mask other prohibited substances, announces the International Testing Agency (ITA).

"The athlete has been informed of the result and has been temporarily banned until the matter is resolved", writes ITA in a statement.

22-year-old Ogunsemilore, who was to make her Olympic debut on Monday, has the right to appeal the temporary ban.

Two other athletes have been banned due to doping suspicions since the Olympic Games began: the Iraqi judoka Sajjad Sehen and the Dominican volleyball player Lisvel Eve Mejia.
