Dutchwoman Jutta Leerdam achieved Olympic success, winning gold in the 1,000-meter speed skating event. The competition suit she wore was auctioned for over 195,000 euros, equivalent to 2.1 million kronor.
But the buyer received a different suit, which Leerdam did not compete in during the Olympics. According to the Dutch Skating Federation, it was all due to "a misunderstanding."
The majority of the proceeds from the auction will go to the Leerdam youth club, and the buyer has accepted that the bid stands.
"The buyer has announced that he wants to keep the suit and has no objections to Jutta Leerdam keeping her competition suit," a statement reads.
