Erik Karlsson's Pittsburgh had scored in five straight games when they visited Boston in tonight's NHL game. Karlsson himself started the game by scoring to make it 1-0 and secured his fourth point in as many games.
However, Boston turned it around to 2-1 before the end of the first period - a result that lasted the rest of the game.
"It wasn't our night," Karlsson said after the game, according to nhl.com.
The win in regulation means that Boston, who currently holds the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, has closed the gap to a more comfortable position in the standings. There are currently only two points between Boston and Pittsburgh, with Pittsburgh in the slightly safer fifth place - with 22 games left to play.
