Boqvist Shines as Florida Dominates Toronto in NHL Quarterfinals

Jesper Boqvist delivered both goal and assist when his Florida crushed Toronto away with 6–1 in the fifth quarterfinal. This was a good opportunity for me, says the Swede, who covered for an injured teammate.

Boqvist's goal – assisted by Gustav Forsling – came in the middle of the second period and meant 3–0. The goal was his first in the Stanley Cup context.

The 24-year-old got to take a place in the first line since Evan Rodrigues injured himself in the fourth match.

I enjoyed it and it probably helped that I got to play together with two of the best players, he said afterwards and referred to his line mates Sam Reinhart and Aleksander Barkov.

Toronto won the first two quarterfinals, not least thanks to William Nylander, who briefly shared the top spot in the playoff scoring league. But the Canadians have now lost three in a row and have a match ball against them ahead of Friday's away duel in Florida.

And if Toronto is to succeed in forcing a seventh and decisive meeting, it requires that the team begins to deliver – the last six periods have only resulted in one goal, in the form of a consolation goal signed Nick Robertson with just over a minute left to play in tonight's match.

Winnipeg–Dallas: 1–3

Vegas–Edmonton: 1–3

Florida–Toronto: 3–2

Washington–Carolina: 1–3

The match series are decided in best of seven.
