The language model is an AI model that will be trained on large amounts of written material to understand and generate text. It can then be used for things like language assistants and analysis tools.
Bonnierförlagen supports the project, as does the Swedish Publishers Association, the Swedish Authors' Association, and several media companies.
"This is an important strategic future issue for us," said Annie Kabala, CEO of Bonnierförlagen, in a press release.
The government will now contribute resources to give the project the best possible conditions.
