The 74-year-old rock star was taken to a hospital in Portugal last week and underwent emergency surgery. It was later reported that she had been placed in a medically induced coma after intestinal surgery to aid her recovery. The new statement did not comment on those reports.

Bonnie Tyler, from Wales in the UK, had her international breakthrough in 1978 and is known for classics such as "It's a Heartache" and "Total Eclipse of the Heart".
