The operation reportedly went well, and a medically induced coma is being used to aid her recovery. The family is now asking for peace and respect for their privacy.

Tyler, born Gaynor Hopkins, had her big breakthrough in the 1980s with "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and is also known for songs like "Holding Out for a Hero" and "It's a Heartache".

Bonnie Tyler has a planned European tour, with a gig in Malta as early as May 22 to celebrate 50 years since her breakthrough with "Lost in France".
