The American actor Joe Don Baker is dead, reports The Hollywood Reporter. He became 89 years old.
Baker was born in Texas in 1936 and made a name for himself in the 1970s as a tough guy in a number of films and TV series, including the box office hit "The Unyielding Sheriff" from 1973.
For the broader audience, he is primarily known for having played two different roles in James Bond films. First, a villainous role as an arms smuggler in the Dalton film "Ice Cold Mission", and later as the affable CIA agent Jack Wade in the Brosnan films "Goldeneye" and "Tomorrow Never Dies".
He also appeared in films such as "Fletch" and "Cape Fear".
