The court justified the decision by citing Bolsonaro's faltering health.
In mid-March, he was admitted to a hospital in the capital, Brasília, after contracting pneumonia. His son, presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro, said at the time that his father had been moved from prison to the hospital after waking with chills and nausea.
Bolsonaro has had recurring health problems and has often been hospitalized since he was stabbed during the 2018 election campaign. The last time was in January, when he was examined after a fall from bed.
71-year-old Jair Bolsonaro is serving a 27-year prison sentence for attempting a coup after losing the 2022 election.
