Jair Bolsonaro is being treated in intensive care, the hospital announced on Friday. Earlier in the day, his son, presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro, said that his father had been moved from prison to the hospital after he woke up with chills and nausea.
Soon-to-be 71-year-old Jair Bolsonaro is serving a 27-year prison sentence for a coup attempt after losing the 2022 election.
Bolsonaro has had recurring health problems and has often been hospitalized since he was stabbed during the 2018 election campaign. The most recent was in January, when he was examined after falling out of bed.
