After the protests, the Bolivian government is being reshuffled

The president says he is determined not to “negotiate with vandals,” but assures that his “door is always open to those who respect democracy.”

"We need to reorganize ourselves into a government that is able to listen," the president said.

The protests have seen government buildings stormed, and clashes have erupted. The demonstrators have demanded wage increases, economic stability and an end to the privatization of state-owned companies.

Centrist Rodrigo Paz took office as president last November after 20 years of leftist rule in Bolivia. One of his campaign slogans was “capitalism for all.”
