Bolivia Declares State of Emergency to Address El Niño’s Effects

Bolivian President Rodrigo Paz has declared a national state of emergency due to El Niño. The aim is to free up resources to deal with the effects of the climate phenomenon.

The state of emergency also means that more rescue forces will be deployed to areas of the country badly affected by El Niño.

“This phenomenon will have serious consequences in the form of droughts and floods, and we need cooperation between all institutions,” Paz says.
