Bolivia's Congress has voted to allow the country's president, Rodrigo Paz, to send in soldiers and declare a state of emergency to respond to the massive protests.
Both Bolivia's Senate and House of Representatives have now approved the proposal.
The protesters want Paz to leave his post and have demanded wage increases, economic stability, and an end to the privatization of state-owned companies.
