Malmö FF talent Hugo Bolin is written off the national team squad for the Nations League matches due to his injured foot. Instead, national team captain Jon Dahl Tomasson calls up striker Isac Lidberg.
Lidberg plays for SV Darmstadt and with nine goals in ten matches, the 26-year-old tops the scoring league in the German second division.
This will be Lidberg's first gathering with the A national team – previously, he has made 31 youth national team appearances (U19 and U17). In the 2015 and 2016 seasons, Lidberg made seven appearances for Hammarby in the Allsvenskan and has also played for Åtvidaberg, Brommapojkarna, and Gefle in Sweden.
In the summer of 2021, he moved to Go Ahead Eagles and has also played for Utrecht in the Dutch top league. Lidberg joined Darmstadt before this season.
The men's national team has been preparing in Marbella, Spain, ahead of Saturday's Nations League match against Slovakia at the Strawberry arena. Due to bad weather in Spain, the team will fly to Stockholm on Thursday and Lidberg will join them there.
Sweden concludes the Nations League play at home against Azerbaijan on Tuesday.
