India is preparing an expedition to bring down the well-known body that has been lying in the so-called death zone on the Tibetan side of the mountain since 1996, the BBC reports, among others.
The identity of the body with the neon green boots has not been confirmed, but it is believed to be Indian border police officer Dorje Morup. He is believed to have frozen to death in a snowstorm shortly after reaching the summit and turning back.
Between ten and twelve experienced climbers are needed for the dangerous operation.
Morup's family will give him a final resting place in his hometown in Ladakh. According to his son, the green boots will be preserved as a memory of his father.
