Steel manufacturer Stegra has secured new financing of 1.4 billion euros, just over 15 billion kronor, from a consortium led by Wallenberg Investments.
"This is a very important message. It strengthens confidence in the green transition in Boden," says municipal councilor Béatrice Öhman in a press release.
Meanwhile, there are few vacant homes in Boden, where Stegra is building a plant to produce what is known as green steel. According to the municipality, the population has increased for ten consecutive months and thousands of guest workers are living there temporarily.
"This is a high-priority issue for us. We are working in several areas to enable more housing," says Öhman.
