Sergei Bobrovsky became a match hero when he kept a shutout for his Florida in the first final match of the Stanley Cup playoffs against Edmonton, which Florida won 3–0.

The home team took the lead just over four minutes in after a full-strength shot from Carter Verhaeghe. At the start of the second period, Evan Rodrigues made it 2–0 before Eetu Luostarinen sealed the final score in an empty net in the third.

The win means that Florida leads the match series, which is played in best-of-seven, 1–0.

None of the six Swedes who played in the match – three in each team – were noted for any points. However, all the blue-and-white players in Florida had to sit out for two minutes in the penalty box – Kevin Stenlund and Oliver Ekman-Larsson for roughing and Gustav Forsling for tripping.
